Blog 6, My Plan

“What are we going to do tonight Brain?”

“What we do every night, Pinky.. Try and take over the world!”

Well that’s not quite my plan but I do have a few ideas in mind.

I hope to earn a World Languages degree from SMU in French and Spanish and a minor in Italian.

From then on, I hope to travel the world and learn about art work from different countries while utilizing both my artistic skills and my language skills to maneuver my way.

I don’t plan on pursuing studio art in college but I hope to continue it on my own time, in my own time.

This semester has taught me that I would rather have a stable job in something that I am good at (languages) and keep art as an outside passion/hobby than try and pursue a career in studio art while starving to keep myself together financially.

As the semester ends, I will upload more artwork of mine that I have completed here at SMU. This website will remain active and my personal work will be added as it is finished.

Questions and comments are always welcome at info@peytonkey.com

Valuable Way of Thinking

In creating art, i’m doing just that: creating art. I’m not doing it for anyone besides myself; even if it’s an assignment, I’m doing it to perfect my skills and get better at what I do. Of course people can influence me to do certain things if there’s money involved (I’m a college kid, what do you expect?) or if I find their ideas intriguing but ultimately the piece will be my own and what I wanted it to be all along even if it’s different than my starting point.

I think that if someone believes that everything they do is for themselves an is beneficial to their personal growth in some way, then the thought of “having to do homework” or that one extra chore that needs to get done comepletely goes away. It’s no longer homework or a chore, it’s something that you learn from and can use to propel yourself forward.
